Perry Ellis is the fifth largest men's designer brand in the United States with retail sales of over $1 billion. Perry Ellis himself died in 1986 and since then the company has changed hands several times. The menswear division has also seen several creative directors with John Crocco being the latest, showing his first collection for Perry Ellis for spring summer 2007. And a refreshing change it is.
John Bartlett - Photo Gallery of the John Bartlett Spring Summer '07 Collection
John Bartlett started off his Spring Summer 2007 show with ensembles soft cool tones. The latter half of the show was about warm neutral tones with splashes of orange or yellow. The collection as a whole was soft, casual and comfortable. And unlike previous seasons, this collection had something for everyone. I could envision a variety of personality types in these clothes. I was very pleased to see that John Bartlett put together such a well thought out and comprehensive collection show.

Looks from the Nautica Spring and Summer 06 Mens Collection - Nautica stays true to their roots and market share prominently featuring their nautical theme for Spring 2006. However with a new design team in place and since the brand relaunch in early 2005 they are exploring new areas like premium denim and better quality suits. Their prices still remain accessible though which makes them a consumer favorite.

Highlights from the Tomer Spring / Summer '06 Men's Fashion Collection
Tomer Spring/Summer 06 - The color palette of the season is primarily influenced by the morose climate of the world today yielding cool somber shades of grey with hints of black blue and green. This is my vision of Tokyo in the not too distant future with remnants of America in the early 1920s.
Men's Fashion - Buckler Jeans Spring '06 Men's Fashion Collection
In addition to seeing the big name designers during New York Fashion Week, I try to seek out new and not so well known designers. I had a pleasant surprise when I saw Bucklers spring collection which had a progressive approach to menswear. Many mens collections are combining formal elements with denim and sportswear but not always as successfully as seen in this collection. I loved the mix of retro, underground and tailored looks. Check out this picture gallery of the collection.
