Simple silhouettes made with interesting fabrics in neutral colors are seen throughout the fall 2010 collections. Other themes include military details, over-sized knits, and sumptuous leathers. And even though many of the pieces are classic and featured in neutral tones, splashes of bold color make these collections exciting. Of course each collection is unique and offers up branded details. Fall 2009 is definitely less sobering than previous seasons--call it recession fatigue.
1. Highlights from the G-Star Fall 2010 Collection
Much less serious than its fall 2009 collection is G-Star's fall 2010 line-up. It is fun, whimsical and unexpected. Amazing tailored pieces in bright yellow, green and cobalt replace the more subdued hues seen in other fall collections. Even the knits are churned out in these bright hues.
2. Highlights from the Perry Ellis Fall 2010 Collection
Perry Ellis Creative Director John Crocco is great at offering up affordable yet stylish wardrobe basics. What's more, you can also rely on Perry Ellis for seasonal trend looks that would cost a fortune if by other designer labels. This couldn't be more true for fall 2010. This collection is sumptuous, rich and modern.
3. Highlights from the MIK CIRE Fall 2010 Collection
MIK CIRE by Eric Kim (the designer behind Monarchy) launched during New York's Fall 2010 Fashion Week. In this first collection, leather jackets, military inspired jackets, tailored wool coats and denim are featured. And although the silhouettes are familiar, they seem original by way of unique construction and unusual details.
4. Highlights from Calvin Klein Men's Fall 2010 Collection
What I love about Calvin Klein is that classic pieces and silhouettes are made fresh simply by using more interesting fabrics and incorporating unique details. That couldn't be more true for fall 2010. Wool, tech fabrics and leather are used in unexpected ways. A simple color palette in black, grays and browns compliment this very modern fall collection.
