Highlights From The Y-3 Fall 2009 Collection
Layering interesting pieces is a key theme for Y-3 fall 2009. Slender jackets and upper pieces are juxtaposed with slouchy pants. Greys and blacks dominate the color palette with accents of blues and green and red. Overall the collection is has a sporty, urban hipster feel which is what I would expect considering it's Adidas.

Highlights From The Calvin Klein Fall 2009 Collection
The Calvin Klein fall 2009 mens collection could be called part futuristic and part 50s Americana. Sleek lines and simple silhouettes are featured, but that is something one expects from the label. There is the occasional punch of color such as a dark teal blue suit that could have walked off the set of Mad Men. Ultra modern pieces like a glossy black trench coat are exciting.

Highlights From The Nicholas K Fall 2009 Collection
A relatively new label, Nicholas K premiered in spring of 2007 and the designs are casual and masculine but not typical. Fabrics have a slightly distressed look to them and the overall focus seems to be on sweaters, jackets and outerwear. The earthy hues are reminiscent of Indiana Jones. See highlights of the Nicholas K fall 2009 collection here.

Highlights From The Lacoste Fall 2009 Collection
If I didnt know that I was in the midst of Fall Fashion Week I would have thought the Lacoste Fall 2009 collection was a spring collection with spring-like colors represented such as white, yellow, pale grey and blue. There seemed to be more cotton than wool as well.

Highlights From The Duckie Brown Fall 2009 Collection
For the Duckie Brown fall 2009 collection, the vision seems to be for a young and fiercely sophisticated sportsman and outdoorsman. Simple silhouettes are made to look modern by accessorizing with big pompom knit hats, oversized bulky scarves and extra high turtlenecks. Black and brown hues are punctuated with blasts of bright orange.

Men's Fall Fashion - Fall 2008 Fashion Show Galleries
If I had to narrow down men's fall 2008 fashion trends to just a few influences, it would be classic 1950's looks, turn of the century European looks and country estate looks. Overall it's romantic and exciting. See these fashion galleries for fall 2008 wardrobe inspiration.

There quite are quite a few major references in the Michael Kors fall 2008 collection. First, if you had told me that Mr. Kors had raided Elvis Costello's closet I wouldn't be surprised. Highlights from the Rock & Republic Fall 2008 Collection
Youthful and hip without being faddish is how I would describe Rock & Republic. For fall 2008 the focus is clearly on great outerwear pieces such as leather jackets and wool coats. Trim, fun suits and sport coats are also a focus. Everything is shown in black and gray for the most part. See some highlights from the Rock & Republic fall 2008 collection here.

Highlights of the Rag & Bone Fall 2008 Collection
I have typically thought of Rag & Bone as more high fashion sportswear or casual attire. So you can imagine my surprise at the fall 2008 collection which featured suits, sport coats and wool trousers in more luxurious fabrics. Ensembles were shown in monochromatic hues which I find to be sublime. There were military and English country references yet the collection remained quite modern and urban.

Highlights from the DKNY Fall 2008 Collection
For men, the DKNY fall 2008 color palate is essentially gray and black with a splash of orange here and there. Cardigans, blazers and coats are the focus since it is all shown with the same dark denim jean. Each ensemble is also shown with a white shirt and skinny tie. The hot items for fall 2008 are chunky sweaters and cardigans. I am also pleased to see blazers and sport jackets so prevalent.

My Favorite Looks from the Z Zegna Fall 2008 Collection
I am in love with the Z Zegna fall 2008 collection. The tailoring is superb and the rich fabrics in black, gray, navy and ivory hues are sumptuous. Modern Far East looks are combined with references to turn of the century Europe. The Z Zegna fall 2008 collection is romantic, modern and functional all at once.

Although I consider Lacoste to transcend current fads, you will still find contemporary items in their collections. For fall 2008, there are slim fitting trousers, updated argyle prints, and soft wool blazers to name a few. The majority of pieces were shown in grays, cremes, black and oatmeal with scarce splashes of bolder colors like red and mustard. See for yourself.

The Duckie Brown label has made contemporary menswear exciting. Although some pieces are clearly for show (like oversized beaded/sequined long sleeved shirts), it makes their fall 2008 collection interesting. I enjoy the generous use of dark color in this collection and the rich fabrics and textures.

Burnt orange, reddish browns, mossy green and tan is the predominant color palate for the Perry Ellis fall 2008 collection. Tweeds, rich leather and textured knits are featured. Overall the collection is classic American with references to the 1930s, old Hollywood and estate living. There is a lot to love about this collection. It makes me daydream about riding horses on a brisk fall day.

Photo Gallery of the Nautica Fall 2008 Collection
What I enjoy about Nautica is that the label is true to its own identity. It's a lifestyle--sporty, casual, rugged. And although the clothes aren't about being cutting edge, they can be worn and styled in such a way to make them look more modern or more traditional. I loved the après ski and fresh from the outdoors looks. Of course there were the signature splashes of bright color.

Casual Fall Jackets - Men's Casual Fall Jackets
Another great transitional weather item is a casual jacket. They are the perfect thing to wear with jeans and a tee. And they come in so many styles, but I have a few favorites. A men's casual fall jacket is a seasonal must, check out my top picks.

Cardigans - Men's Fall Cardigans
Cardigans are another wardrobe must have. And they have had a bit of a comeback lately too, not that they ever really went out of style. They come in so many styles from slim fitting and modern to more traditional. Check out my top picks in men's cardigans for fall.

Fall Sweaters - Men's Fall Sweaters Under 100 Dollars
Sweaters are a key element in any man's wardrobe. I like to wear them with everything, mostly because I can still look sharp and put together without needing to iron a shirt. They are also a great transitional weather item. Don't wait until it's too late, check out some of my favorite men's fall sweaters.

Lacoste - Highlights from the Lacoste Fall 2007 Collection
According to Christophe Lemaire, Lacoste's designer, the inspiration for fall 2007 was French film from the '70s. Leisurewear and weekend attire was predominant. Your typical Lacoste polo shirt was nowhere to be found. I'm not sure if I was bored with this collection, but I found myself wanting something more. See some highlights from the show.

Z Zegna - Photo Gallery of the Z Zegna Fall 2007 Collection
Z Zegna is the more contemporary, slimmer fitting line of the classic Italian Ermenegeldo Zegna label. It is one of my favorites because it is less expensive than its signature line and appeals to a younger consumer. In my opinion, the whole line is ageless. Fall 2007 was the label's first runway show. The collection maintained a high end Italian look with black and grey dominating the color scheme. Gorgeous suiting and knits were items worth noting. See for yourself.

DKNY - Photo Gallery of the DKNY Fall 2007 Collection
What I love about DKNY is that a young professional doesn't have to look uncomfortably buttoned up. You can still be hip and current without looking like a fashion victim. Boots and narrow ties made gave the show a retro feel although, individually, the pieces wouldn't necessarily be so. Flannel, twills and tweeds made everything look soft. This is one of those labels that consistently produce great, up to date basic pieces. See the photo gallery of the DKNY fall 2007 collection.

Buckler - Highlights from the Buckler Fall 2007 Collection
Buckler always puts on a great show that is somewhat theatrical and never dull. The fall 2007 collection had a strong ‘80s rock ‘n roll influence. Items of most interest were body conscious suits, coats and knits, slim fitting dress shirts with the predominant color palette being black and gray with splashes of red, green, blue and mauve.

Duckie Brown - Highlights from the Duckie Brown Fall 2007 Collection
The Duckie Brown fall 2007 collection maintained its youthful approach to fashion which is what makes the label so endearing. And there always seems to be an element of surprise and a fresh take to fashion which is difficult to achieve these days.

Perry Ellis Men's Fall 2007 Collection
Perry Ellis' former creative director often created clothes that were a little too flamboyant for this classic American label. John Crocco, the new creative director, is returning the Perry Ellis label to its classic American heritage. The fall 2007 collection drew upon romantic notions of weekends in the Hamptons or perhaps the decadence made famous by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Notable items were cable knit sweaters, tweed trousers, cardigans of all sorts and suits in soft cream, tan and grey hues.

John Bartlett - Highlights from the John Bartlett Fall '07 Collection
I have always admired John Bartlett's vision. His clothes are always quite masculine which I love, and for Fall 2007, he paired ivy league and military influences. The predominant color scheme was creme and tan (or desert hues) as well and black and grey.

Michael Wesetly Fall 2006 Men's Collection
Michael Wesetly is an American designer who started showing his collections in Europe, Asia and South America in 2003. His first show in the U.S. was in New York for spring/summer 2006. His label is one of few that is entirely made in the U.S. And what's refreshing is that he designs with all shapes, sizes and colors in mind.

John Varvatos Fall 2006 Men's Collection
If you can imagine what immigrants pouring into Ellis Island during the twenties and thirties looked like then you have just captured the essence of John Varvatos' fall 2006 collection. Gorgeous, rugged fabrics and saturated colors also contributed to the theme yet cuts were more modern as you might expect from the label. See for yourself.

Americana Themes Prevail in Cockpit USA's Debut Collection for Fall 2006
Cockpit USA is a new fashion collection for men that is rugged with a luxury feel and refers to a bygone age. Americana themes are important in the collection. Key items are graphic t-shirts that feature cool graphics of the wild west, pin up girls from the nose art of WW2 aircraft and other themes. The company is an official supplier to the US Air Force of the pilot's iconic leather A-2 jacket. And it is this authenticity that makes this collection interesting.

Canterbury of New Zealand is the official purveyor of rugby team uniforms for many of the world's top teams. They are bringing their century-old heritage to the U.S. with a new "Off Field" collection that blends elements of rugby style with a contemporary flavor. This new "ready-to-wear" collection for fall 2006 is super cool.

Kenneth Cole did what he does best for his fall 2006 collection: interpreting the prevailing themes of the season for the masses. The clothes had no frills, they were just great simple clothes you can wear in everyday life. The collection consisted of updated classics with a seventies influence. Predominate colors were black, charcoal, vicuna (a rich camel), ivory, teal, brown, and cranberry.

Photo Gallery of the Tomer Fall '06 Men's Collection
The Tomer fall '06 collection could very well my favorite collection for fall 2006. It is exciting to see a designer use traditional tailoring techniques yet shed the stuffy elements associated with fine tailoring. The clothes aren't overtly trendy either. They simply offer a much needed alternative for those who want a dressier look, but without looking like they work on Wall Street.

The Lacoste fall 2006 runway show had the models emerging from a giant lit-up boom box. It was quite the spectacle and fittingly set the stage since the collection itself had a more urban preppy feel. And more so than previous collections, I felt that each article was strong, which is what makes Lacoste so great. Just about anyone can find something they could incorporate into their own wardrobe.

DKNY's collections always have a youthful, relaxed urban feel and this is what I love about them. They are clothes that are easy to wear and versatile. Looks from the John Bartlett Fall 2006 Men's Fashion Collection
John Bartlett’s fall 2006 men's collection is rugged and outdoorsy. I can't say I loved the collection as a whole but there were pieces and elements that were stunning. The coats and jackets were superb, the leathers impressive, and the fabrics and color scheme rich. Highlights from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2006 Men's Collection
My impression of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2006 men's fashion collection is a series of looks for the urban sophisticate. What was shown on the runway had the appearance of being a little vintage, perhaps a bit grunge with a few dressier pieces thrown in for good measure. All of these references were layered together creating ensembles that had a care free, eclectic flair. See for yourself.

6 Fall Items You Have to Have in Your Closet
Fall fashion collections are often the more favored by consumers and are certainly my favorite. Fabrics are rich in color and texture yet made lighter for those mild fall days and can often be worn year round. You don't have to spend a fortune to look stylish either. The following six items will not only carry you through this fall and winter but seasons to come.
