Men's Attitude Towards Grooming and Personal Care Has Undoubtedly Shifted

Wednesday June 28, 2006
I'm in the midst of reading a new book named Mantalk by Elliot Jacobs, MD, which covers all sorts of topics relating to aging, looks and overall sex appeal. The book ultimately provides tips and advice on how to turn yourself into the best man you can be, at least physically. I found a couple of the remarks in the introduction interesting and thought I would share them.

“The open expression of male vanity is undoubtedly on the rise. The male grooming market has been cited as an industry of $3.5 billion and growing, especially among graying baby boomers and hip generation X-ers. Men are spending heavily on grooming products, hair restoration, teeth whitening, and cosmetic surgery in the relentless pursuit of youth and perfection.”

"As the metrosexual phenomenon has made it hip and acceptable for men to indulge in grooming routines, sales for "beauty" products geared toward men have skyrocketed. Sales of male-oriented products have grown twice as fast as those of female-oriented products."

I’m overjoyed to know that grooming and personal care are becoming more and more important to men. And let's be honest, a well groomed man always turns heads.
